Tenuta di Meraviglia Partners with Sommelier International to Expand into China
Tuscan estate Tenuta di Meraviglia is entering the Chinese market through a new partnership with specialist importer Sommelier International. The collaboration will bring the winery’s acclaimed wines from the Bolgheri DOC to consumers across China, starting with the winery's Bolgheri DOC and Vermentino, as well as Chianti Classico from Dievole.
Owned by Alejandro Bulgheroni Family Vineyards group, Tenuta Meraviglia is the new winery of the Alejandro Bulgheroni Family Vineyards group, located in Donoratico, a hamlet of Castagneto Carducci, in the heart of Bolgheri. Built within the former Cariola quarry, decommissioned in the 1980s, and designed by Studio Bernardo Tori, the winery is spread over three levels and operates by gravity flow. The project was conceived to regenerate a degraded area and restore its value through sustainable, efficient architecture fully integrated into the Bolgheri landscape. The estate is recognised for its focus on Cabernet Franc and for wines that reflect both innovation and the unique terroir of the region.
Sommelier International is a respected importer of premium wines into China, with a portfolio that includes Altos Las Hormigas, Tinpot Hut, and most recently Mirabeau. The company works with leading hotels, restaurants, and retailers across the country.
The introduction of Tenuta di Meraviglia to Sommelier International was facilitated by Nimbility, a market and brand building company that connects international brands with distribution partners across Asia.
Olalla Lopez-Corona, Export Sales Director at Dievole said of the partnership: “Bolgheri has become one of the most dynamic wine regions in Italy, and we are excited to now share our wines with consumers in China. Partnering with Sommelier International gives us the opportunity to build awareness and appreciation for our estate in this important market through the right channels and reaching the most enthusiastic drinkers.”
Vicente Muedra, General Manager at Sommelier International commented: “Chinese consumers are increasingly drawn to fine wines from Tuscany, and Tenuta di Meraviglia represents a modern expression of Bolgheri. With its distinctive focus on Cabernet Franc, it adds real depth and character to our Italian portfolio.”
The first shipments from Tenuta di Meraviglia and Dievole will be available in China end of October through Sommelier International’s established channels.
