Nimbility Brings Isabel Estate to China Through Partnership with Shanghai Montrachet

Isabel Estate is to launch in Mainland China through a partnership with Shanghai Montrachet, one of China’s rising boutique importers focused on the premium on-trade and private client space.

This new collaboration brings Isabel Estate—a highly awarded winery located in a pristine pocket of land in Wairau Valley, Marlborough, New Zealand—into China’s growing premium wine landscape. Isabel Estate is part of the premium wine portfolio under Australia’s Endeavour Group, and joins a curated lineup of regional leaders including Margaret River's Cape Mentelle and Barossa's Krondorf.

“With demand accelerating in China for authentic, premium wines with real provenance, Isabel Estate is a natural fit,” said Nichole Mao, Partner at Nimbility. “They are producing some of the finest wines in New Zealand today—sustainably grown, expertly crafted, and globally recognised. Shanghai Montrachet’s sommelier-led approach makes them the ideal partner to introduce Isabel to China’s most discerning buyers.”

Under this partnership, Shanghai Montrachet will focus distribution through its targeted ecosystem:

1.   Ting Somm Studio – a sommelier-led service team working with top-tier restaurants, hotels, and chef collaborations;

2.   La Cave de Montrachet – a boutique, omni-channel retail platform catering to collectors and premium consumers.

Isabel Estate, located in Marlborough’s iconic Wairau Valley and founded in 1980, is known for crafting expressive Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir— with premium tiers all 100% estate-grown, made, and bottled. The winery has recently earned major international acclaim, including:

1.   Wine of the Year and Chardonnay of the Year at the 8th London Wine Competition 2025 for the Wild Barrique Chardonnay 2022, awarded 98 points

2.   Champion Chardonnay and Winemaker of the Year at the National Wine Awards of Aotearoa New Zealand 2022

“Bringing Isabel Estate to China is a strategic step forward for us,” said Chief Winemaker, Jeremy McKenzie “We’ve seen growing interest from Asian markets in structured, terroir-driven New Zealand wines—and we’re excited to enter China with partners who share our vision for premium positioning and long-term brand building.”

Arneis Wu, Head Buyer at Shanghai Montrachet, added: “Isabel Estate offers exactly what our clients are asking for—distinctive wines with character, pedigree, and a clear story. Their Wild Barrique Chardonnay is already making waves on the global stage, and we believe it will resonate powerfully with China’s new generation of collectors, sommeliers, and wine lovers.”

With this launch, Nimbility continues to connect best-in-class producers with the right local partners—positioning brands for sustainable growth across Asia’s most dynamic markets.
