Award-winning, Grenache specialist Willunga 100 from McLaren Vale have appointed Nimbility to help them build their markets in Asia over the coming years.

Nimbility will focus on securing new distribution partners for Willunga 100 in a number of currently unexplored territories with a strong focus on Greater China and Japan.

The range offers an excellent quality to value proposition, centred around old-vine, premium Grenache, complimented by a Shiraz/Viognier and a Cabernet/Shiraz blend. The single vineyard ‘The Hundred’ wines are made from vineyards in the Blewitt Springs and Clarendon sub-regions of McLaren Vale. Both are unoaked to emphasize the intense aromatic profile of dry-grown Grenache. ‘The Tithing’ Grenache is only made in the best vintages and represents a small selection from the finest old bush vine Grenache. Made from vines over 60 years old, it is dark and concentrated, with powerful savoury undertones and a long, spicy finish. James Halliday, Australia’s most respected critic, rated it 96 points.

“The potential for Grenache in Asian markets is very clear to me”, says Nimbility Founding Partner Ian Ford. “The variety’s wonderful perfume and natural spiciness give it incredible potential to be paired with the exotic flavours of so many Asian cuisines. The superb value to quality ratio of these wines, which has proven so popular with UK sommeliers, will no doubt also resonate with the on-trade in Asia. We are very excited to be introducing such high quality wines, from a relatively underrepresented variety, to the Asian markets.”

David Gleave MW, co-founder of Willunga 100 and Managing Director of Liberty Wines UK, commented: “We’re delighted to be working with Nimbility and to have their team, with such a wealth of experience and knowledge of local markets, looking after our new distribution in Asia.”
